Second-hand trucks and trailers a safe haven for buyers
Good opportunities despite the economic climate
PARK Village Auctions will make available an assortment of bank-repossessed trucks and trailers at the company’s truck yard at Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Thursday.
The auction will appeal to those in the market for trucks who are hesitant to overextend themselves in the current economic climate, said PVA’s LeRoy Augustyn, who will oversee the auction.
He said PVA had a reputation for bringing quality truck tractors, trailers, yellow metal and farming equipment to market.
Rigid trucks and truck tractors to be auctioned include Toyota Dyna, Hino, Renault Kerax, Mercedes Benz Axor, Actros, Mitsubishi Fuso, MAN TGA, Nissan UD70, UD 440, UD 460, UD290 and UD 390, Iveco Stralis, Tata 1518, 3434, Freightliner, DAF CF85-430 and Volvo FH-480.
A large collection of trailers will also be auctioned, including Flat Deck Link trailers, skeletal, curtain side trailers, side-tipper trailers and a brick trailer with mounted crane.
Among other items going under the hammer will be Bell 315 backhoe loaders, a Caterpillar 140H Grader, Crown electric forklifts and a horsebox trailer.
Augustyn said: “While the economy looks set to improve in the mid to long term, predictions for the annual budget speech largely foresee increased taxes and a series of fuel price hikes this year.
“Reliable second-hand trucks and trailers will no doubt remain highly attractive to those investing in such assets for some time to come.”
Viewing will take place on Wednesday from 10am to 4pm, and the auction will proceed on Thursday at 10.30am.
