How the gifts rule works

A PERSON may receive two gifts per calendar year on which no taxes will be charged, provided they are not valued at more than R1 400 each — the equivalent of $105, £84, €98 and Aus$137.

Wines, spirits, tobacco products and perfume are excluded from this “rebate”.
