THE Special Investigating Unit has appointed Ziphozenkosi Mguli strategy manager.
Mguli has more than 10 years’ experience in strategic planning, programme performance monitoring and reporting and enterprise risk management in government departments, public entities and higher education.
He has BTech degrees in business administration, business information systems and public management, a national diploma in public management and an MBA in operations management.
He will focus on providing strategy support to the SIU and monitor business performance in line with the strategic objectives. BUSINESS law firm Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr has appointed Rafael Eliasov a director in its corporate and commercial practice. Eliasov specialises in mergers and acquisitions and employee share schemes.
“The business landscape is becoming increasingly complex and the need for sector experts is on the rise. We welcome Rafael to our team,” said corporate and commercial national practice head Willem Jacobs.
Eliasov began his career as a candidate attorney at ENSafrica in 2011 and left it as an associate in 2014, when he joined Investec Bank as internal legal consultant for the principal investments division. After assisting in the formation of IEP Group, he joined IEP in 2016 as an internal legal consultant. IN light of its recent acquisition of Ora Fund Managers, South African alternative investments firm Trustee Board Investments has appointed two Ora executives as directors.
Ian Groenewald, who has joined the board as an executive director, has more than 25 years’ experience in finance and investing.
The firm describes him as “a skilled dealmaker with a knack for building financial services businesses”.
He was one of the founding partners of Ora Fund Managers and is also serving as its CEO at the moment.
Tienie van der Mescht is a former CEO of Sanlam Collective Investments and joins as a nonexecutive director.
He started his career at Sasol, and has more than 30 years’ experience in the investment management businesses.
He joined Ora’s board in 2012 and is also chairman of Ora Fund Managers’ audit and risk committee. THE South African Weather Service has appointed Jeremiah Lengoasa CEO.
He returns to the South African Weather Service after leaving 12 years ago to join the World Meteorological Organisation in Geneva as assistant secretary-general, a post he held from August 2005.
In 2010 Lengoasa was appointed deputy secretarygeneral of the organisation, a position he occupied until August last year.
He holds two master’s degrees, in climatology and public development management, both of which are from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Lengoasa was a teacher and a university lecturer in geography and environmental studies for several years before joining the public service.
