Will Henri testify?
If the accused in a criminal case chooses to testify, he or she normally does so at the start of the defence case. But Henri van Breda, on trial in the High Court in Cape Town for the murder of his parents and brother, wants to testify last, if at all. Prosecutor Susan Galloway was scornful, saying his aim was to match his evidence to that of expert defence witnesses. Judge Siraj Desai will comment on Van Breda’s “unusual” approach on Wednesday.
