Your denial was baloney

-

Recent South African history has been punctuated with too many acts of idiocy or negligence leading to needless deaths — Marikana and Life Esidimeni spring to mind. But they’re all eclipsed by the listeriosis outbreak, which has killed at least 183 people.

Faced with disaster on this scale, you’d think the head of the business responsible, Tiger Brands, would get his apologies in early. But not Lawrence MacDougall, who knows an Enterprise factory was the listeria source but wants us to believe there’s no “direct link” with the deaths.

Dream on, mampara. US food safety lawyer Bill Marler, who’s here to represent victims, has won $600-million (R7-billion) from the likes of you. You’ll need more than polony baloney to see him off.
