Howto... Be productive on your commute

-

● Whether you’re in your car or in a taxi, bus or train, the hours you spend commuting to and from work can feel like wasted time.

But Manpower Group South Africa’s MD, Lyndy van den Barselaar, believes this time can be put to good use:

Find a podcast that will teach a useful personal or professional skill. It could be learning to be a better listener or how to be more assertive at work;

Meditation apps can take you through guided meditations that can help you at least begin your day in a calm state of mind. Probably best to suited to those who are not doing the driving themselves;

You can use the time navigating your way to the office to prepare for important conversations. Your commute is the perfect time to rehearse and prepare, to ensure you feel confident;

Also for those not in the driver’s seat, you can catch up on e-mails, so you can hit the ground running when you arrive;

Draw up a to-do list for the day — you can do it in your head or use a voiceactivated app; and

If you live close enough, you can save money and get some exercise by walking, running or cycling to work. — Margaret
