FAVOURITE FINDS
Bee Diamondhead
I once swapped a pair of my Yves Saint Laurent tribute pumps for a Classic Dior blazer at Afraid of Mice in Cape Town. I love it because it goes with everything in my wardrobe and the cut is perfectly Dior.
Jacquie Myburgh Chemaly
I bought a pair of red leather pants at Rags and Lace in Craighall, Johannesburg. If I could wear them every day, I would. Leather is a great thing to buy at vintage shops — you usually find the really special, soft Italian pieces that we don’t find in this country.
Marieke Merts
A sheer, pink silk chiffon dress that I picked up at a Hospice shop in Brooklyn. It has a high collar, pink embroidery across the bust and at the waist it falls into knife pleats. The sleeves are oversized and billowy and I styled it with a pair of patent leather boots and cat-eye sunglasses. People always think it’s Gucci.
ADVICE
Bee Diamondhead, stylist Don’t be afraid to mix it up.
If you have a rule book, throw it away. Mix your new and old.

Don’t settle for an item that’s too big or too small unless you have the ability (or you know a good seamstress) to fix it. Rather leave it to the next person, who may love it as it is.
Marieke Merts, stylist Be patient. Finding gold requires some digging.
