When it comes to describing my perfect Sunday, some people will be surprised by what they find out about me. You see, I feel like there are two sides to my life — the Kyle Cassim everyone meets out on the jol, and the family-orientated Kyle who appreciates those closest to him. So my ideal day would be a seamless marriage between these two lives.

I wake up early (at about seven) and head to boxing. Keeping yourself in peak physical condition is important to leading a healthy life. While in training I’ll be listening to a selection of great hard house tracks I recommended to the gym. You know, to get the blood pumping just right.

Once I’m done in the ring, I’ll head on home to prepare the perfect classic breakfast fryup. I love good food. Therefore, the ideal fryup consists of bacon, sausages and bust egg chutney. Bust egg chutney is one of my favourite breakfast dishes, where you cook your chutney, then actually crack your eggs into the chutney and cook everything up together in one big happy mess. It’s incredible.

Once I’m done feeding the beast — that’s me — I will then get ready for church.

I’m big on family, so after church, the whole family must be together: aunts, uncles, cousin, mom dad, brother, sister — the whole lot. With a bit of Andrea Bocelli or Hillsong playing in the background, we’ll enjoy lunch together, and since it’s my perfect Sunday, my mom will have whipped up her incredible crab curry.

After lunch, I’d sneak off to the spa for a little R&R Kyle time. After a heavy weekend, a good massage is always on the cards. Once I’m feeling nice and loose I’ll then meet up with a few mates for an afternoon drink. I really appreciate good friends and will make time for those I appreciate in my life.

After seeing my people, and as the evening begins to creep in, it’s time to break out Kyle Cassim the DJ. I really love playing deep house sets on a Sunday, so I’ll be sure to pop in at one of my favourite spots, Nicci Beach, for a quick spin of the decks.

Then time for some quality guy time with my dad and brother. I meant it when I said I’m a big old family kind of guy. We’ll meet up and enjoy a good glass of something or the other with the best of Motown playing in the background.

To wrap it all up, crawling into bed and cuddling up with some good snacks and a movie marathon will shut down my perfect Sunday. After a busy day well spent, there’s nothing better than a little bit of leftover crab curry and Harry Potter to bring it to the perfect close.

The Kyle Cassim Show is on 5FM, Fridays from 7pm to 10pm.
