Patience runs out
In the Sunday Times on June 2 1985, European soccer correspondent Bob Blair filed this strongly worded report: “The massacre at Heysel Stadium in Brussels took place when drink-crazed savages in Liverpool colours stampeded a rival Juventus section of the crowd into a panic-driven dash for safety before the start of the European Cup final. Now the patience of continental Europe, which has endured the mindless violence of the soccer scum that has ravaged some of its greatest cities, has clearly come to an end”
