Record fine for manipulation of Android

The EU slapped a à4.34billion (R67.88-billion) fine on Google on Wednesday for abusing the dominance of its Android operating system.

The biggest antitrust penalty in the economic bloc’s history follows a three-year investigation. EU competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager said the US tech giant had illegally used Android’s nearmonopoly to boost use of its own search engine and browser.
