Time to return Barnes to sender
Each day, we read of the nonexistent postal service in South Africa. The current postal service is much worse than it was 200 years ago.
Mark Barnes was appointed to turn things around. I’m afraid he has failed miserably, but he is still drawing a fat salary. Overseas magazines, in particular, just do not arrive.
I have Barnes’s personal cellphone number and have spoken to him on a number of occasions about the nonexistent service. Nothing has been done.
The last time I spoke to him, he said the nondelivery was because of the strike. It has nothing to do with the strike. It is because there is no management and therefore no accountability.
I cannot ask Barnes to step up to the plate, because I do not believe he can reach it.
Are we going to sit back and accept that post just isn’t delivered?
