Qedani Mahlangu
is the alleged architect of the Life Esidimeni tragedy which claimed 144 mentally ill patients while she was still Health MEC. Mahlangu was forced to resign over the scandal and may still face charges over the matter.
Bathabile Dlamini
was one of the MPs who pleaded guilty to theft and fraud charges and was fined by the Western Cape High Court in 2010 in connection with the Travelgate scandal.
Faith Muthambi
The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) laid charges of high treason and corruption against her when it emerged that she had allegedly shared highly confidential information about cabinet meetings with the Guptas.
Mosebenzi Zwane
Exposed through the Gupta e-mails as having travelled to Zurich at the same time that the Guptas were in the city, to negotiate the purchase of Optimum coal mine from Glencore.
Tony Yengeni
was found guilty of fraud and sentenced to four years in jail in 2003.
Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko
As agriculture minister, she was forced to resign after her involvement in a dodgy R1-million Mercedes-Benz purchase which was later highjacked, while being driven by her husband, just a day after it was bought.
Florence Radzilani
is the mayor of the Vhembe district municipality administration which invested R300-million — 35% of the municipality’s operating capital — to VBS Mutual Bank.
Nozililo Mashiya
once stood accused of using public funds to buy alcohol worth R10 000. In 2010, a KPMG investigation into the Free State’s Nala municipality, where she served as the council speaker, found that she had allegedly used the council credit card to buy liquor.
Supra Mahumapelo
was forced to resign as North West Premier after his government was taken over by the national government. His administration was marred by allegations of corruption.
Bheki Cele
was fired as National Police Commissioner. In 2011, then Public Protector Thuli Madonsela found Cele guilty of improper conduct and maladministration and a three-member board of inquiry which probed his fitness to hold office recommended that he be removed.
Mduduzi Manana
resigned as MP this week as the ethics committee was preparing to discuss two complaints against him. He was sentenced to one year in jail or a R100 000 fine last year for assaulting three female patrons at a Johannesburg club.
Pule Mabe
The ANC spokesperson was fined 15 days of his parliamentary salary and reprimanded for breaching members’ code of conduct after a negative finding by then Public Protector Thuli Madonsela.
Mike Mabuyakhulu
Currently out on R50 000 bail in a matter relating to alleged graft of R28-million that took place between 2012 and 2013 when he was MEC for economic development and tourism.
Makoma Makhurupetje
is implicated in a land sale scandal where the Tubatse municipality allegedly sold land to private developers for R4-million who in turn sold the land back to the department for a staggering R108-million.
Mathabo Leeto
is expected to appear in court tomorrow. In 2009, when Leeto was the mayor of the Matjhabeng municipality, she allegedly awarded a R15-million telecommunications tender without following due process.
Andile Lili
Lili and eight others were found guilty by the Bellville Magistrate's Court of contravening the Civil Aviation Act when they dumped human waste at Cape Town International Airport in 2013.
Peggy Nkonyeni
twice faced fraud and corruption charges that were later withdrawn by the NPA during her term as KwaZulu-Natal legislature speaker.
Brian Hlongwa
Implicated in a R1.2-billion corruption scandal at the department of health. He, together with some public servants and private companies, are implicated in corruption which happened in the department between 2006 and 2010.
Collen Maine
bought a R5-million home in Pretoria East, alllegedly with the help of the Guptas. Deeds office information reveals that Maine has a bond with the Bank of India.
Bongani Bongo
Then State Security minister, Bongo allegedly tried to bribe Adv Ntuthuzelo Vanara, who was the evidence leader of Parliament’s state capture inquiry into Eskom.
Jackson Mthembu
pleaded guilty to drunken driving in 2010. He was sentenced to a R12 000 fine, half of which was suspended for five years.
Ruth Bhengu
was found guilty and sentenced to a fine after being implicated in the Travelgate scandal.
Sylvia Lucas
In 2013 the Sunday Times revealed that Lucas spent more than R50 000 of taxpayers’ money on fast food during her first 10 weeks in office
Sarah Moleleki
was arrested in 2016 after she was caught on CCTV cameras slipping nail polish and earrings (to the value of R260) into her handbag from a Woolworths store in Cape Town.
Zikiswa Ncitha
The former mayor is implicated in the muchpublicised Nelson Mandela Funeral Funds scandal. Ncitha is one of the ANC politicians facing charges of corruption, fraud and money laundering.
Sindiswa Gomba
is an ANC PR councillor in Buffalo City and is no stranger to controversy. She too is implicated in the Mandela Funeral Funds scandal. Just like Ncitha, Gomba is also facing cirminal charges.
