Scent of a lion enough to get deer fleeing

A Dutch town overrun by fallow deer is mulling plans to diffuse the smell of lion manure to keep them at bay.

Zandvoort has been invaded by thousands of the boisterous bucks. Now it is mulling a “dispenser” which will release an odour that smells like lion manure, said Patrick Steijger, who makes the dispenser. Though the deer are unlikely to have come across a lion, the smell stimulates a deep-rooted fear in all animals.
