My Perfect Weekend

Mampho Brescia. Actress

On weekend mornings I am

usually in bed — I like to sleep in. Saturday and Sunday mornings are my time to recover from the week. The house is usually quiet. Baby and dad take the dogs out to the park. The silence is golden and very cherished.

The way I spend the rest of the day

very much depends on the weather. On sunny days you can find me either enjoying long lunches on my patio or I will be out and about shopping.

On chilly days,

I’ll make some popcorn and spend the day cuddled up with a good book. That’s my kinda weekend afternoon.

Weekend evenings

are spent with glasses of wine and some quality time with the special person in my life. I am, after all, an absolute romantic.

If we do decide to go out

to eat I usually prefer quaint hideaway places like the restaurant Bellgables Restaurant in Muldersdrift. It’s a richly ornate country restaurant where we can have a candlelit gourmet dinner surrounded by antiques and fine artworks. Like I said I am a romantic.

The person I most love to spend

my weekend with is the person I share my life with, and/or my BFF. But I also have times when I feel like a little crazy and social, so I’ll host an all-night, let’s-hang-out-and-have-a-bunch-of-friendscome-over kind of evening.

My weekends are not really

centred on food because I’m not much of a foodie, but I love a good meal. My hubby is a great cook, so I will usually get to enjoy one of his delicious dishes, which is always a first choice for me. We eat a lot of pasta.

I am very interested in people

and history, so if I have managed to carve myself out some downtime to read it will be about anything that’s going to increase my knowledge and understanding of people.

When friends come over

or I’m just relaxing and listening to music by myself it will be trap music, country, R&B or hip hop. It really depends on my mood, but my selection is often so varied.

The televisions in my house

are dominated and controlled by one person and one person only, my five-year-old, Queen Rainn. Any chance we get, my husband and I will escape to the movies.

Just before bed

I’m not a foodie, but I love a good meal. My hubby is a great cook

to prepare myself for the next day and get into the right frame of mind, I pray. ● LS
