The number of litres that made up “the world’s largest Cuba Libre cocktail”, poured in a recent record-smashing feat by mixologists in Havana.

The giant version of Cuba’s classic cocktail — sometimes referred to less glamorously as “the rum-and-Coke” — was mixed to mark the end of the 22nd annual Cocktail Pan-American Meeting, a gathering of bartenders from 18 countries, which took place at the famous Tryp Habana Libre hotel.

For over an hour, Cuban and foreign mixologists worked to prepare the enormous cocktail, in a special container stationed in the hotel’s lobby. In total, 108 bottles of white rum (specifically, threeyear-old Havana Club) were added to over 200 litres of “TuKola”, Cuba’s version of Coca-Cola.

To finish off the mixture, ice was added with “a dash” of lemon juice (though purists would say it should have been lime).

The result was then dished out in cups to the audience, and the success was recorded in the Guinness World Records book.
