The nation sobbed when he was removed as finance minister in December 2015 and replaced with a Gupta puppet. In February this year, President Cyril Ramaphosa was lauded when he reappointed Nhlanhla Nene as his finance minister. But it turns out this seemingly stand-up guy is not as squeaky clean as he would have us believe. He has been spending a lot of time with the Guptas.

On Friday, as the lies were catching up with him, Mamparanene issued a public apology, saying he too was human and was capable of making mistakes.

But no, minister, there’s a huge difference between a mistake and a downright lie repeated until you are caught out. As the lies pile up, we now wonder what other skeletons are hiding in this mampara’s closet.
