ROBIN WILLIAMS COLLECTION AUCTIONED

Over $6m (R88m) was raised for charity last week at an auction in New York of the collection of film star Robin Williams, who took his own life in 2014, and his second wife, Marsha. Along with his Golden Globe awards, rare books, toy soldiers and watches was an interesting art collection that included some streetart pieces. One such work is by Banksy, a painting of military helicopters in Vietnam wearing pink bow ties, bought for Williams by his wife. She also bought Banksy’s Mr Brainwash, Space Invader and Blek le Rat. The works were sold to raise money for Williams’s favourite charities.
