When Netflix aired his 2018 film Catching Feelings, Kagiso Lediga told the Sunday Times he embraced the new outlet for having no concerns whatsoever about content being “too smart” for South African audiences — a reservation constantly voiced by local commissioning editors. “The audiences have always been smart, it’s the broadcasters who are making them stupid,” Lediga said. “You just have to have faith and take risks.”
