Tightheads & Loose Balls

-

● Bulls trio No8 Duane Vermeulen, hooker Schalk Brits and centre Jesse Kriel visited the Scenic Drive show at Jacaranda FM’s studios this week. They got a bit more than they bargained for however when they bumped into a psychic who often features on the show. Brits in particular was a little unsettled by what the psychic was observing and revealing about them.

Crucially, though, the psychic reckons the Bulls will do well in Super Rugby, which brought Brits’s trademark smile right back.

● Naturally, Brits’s age came up as a topic of discussion on the show. “I love my age. I have zero issues," said the 37-year old. “Only problem was Wilco Louw’s girlfriend called me ‘Oom’.” He did concede his recovery time takes longer these days.

● You would have thought Thelo Wakefield’s luck would have changed for the better after his stint as Western Province president came to an end last November. This week Wakefield, at whom a lot of fingers are still pointing for the ruinous state the franchise is in, lamented on social media how his church was burgled.

● New director of rugby at the Bulls Alan Zondagh admits he had his hands full. He is overseeing huge changes at the Bulls and this week another high-profile figure, Xander Janse van Rensburg, resigned at the franchise. “I think people are under the impression we are hiring a new highperformance manager. The CVs are stacking up,” Zondagh quipped.
