The value in rands of £2, the new pernight tourist tax that has been approved by the city of Edinburgh.
Councillors in the Scottish capital have given the go-ahead to what will become the UK’s first tourist tax.
Cities including Barcelona, Venice and Paris have all introduced similar levies in a bid to mitigate the impact of mass tourism.
The new tax will apply to all accommodation types, except campsites, and is expected to raise up to £14.6 million a year for the city’s coffers.
The tax won’t come into effect until parliament passes enabling legislation, which is unlikely to happen until next year.
