Casting spells in committee

-

And then there’s one Jerome “JJ” Maake, a bizarre ANC backbencher from Limpopo with a dry sense of humour. He resorted to all things voodoo when he sought to deflect attacks from the DA during a debate on the police committee report on the Robert McBride vs Bheki Cele matter. “In the ANC you find professors, doctors, athletes, kings, chiefs, workers and peasants. We even have witches in the ANC, if you didn’t know,” declared Maake in a mixture of English and Sepedi. “We can bewitch you, the DA, right now. I can withdraw if that’s unparliamentary but they’ve been warned.” At least the blue party can count on in-house pastor Mmusi Maimane to cast the spell away.
