A close-run thing in Gauteng

In the 2016 local government elections, the ANC in Gauteng lost two major metros — Tshwane and Johannesburg — to a coalition of the DA and the EFF. It held Ekurhuleni thanks to a coalition with the AIC. In Joburg the ANC received 47% and in Tshwane support went as low as 45%.
