Uncle Gweezy had trouble gaining access to the IEC results centre in Tshwane because he didn’t have an accreditation tag. With his bodyguard in tow, at one stage he had to introduce himself to officials asking about his accreditation: “My name is Samson Gwede Mantashe, I’m from the ANC … I’m here to view the results centre.” An accreditation tag was later arranged for him but his bodyguard was not that lucky — and that’s not where the problems ended for Mantashe. An attempt to pass through the scanners at the entrance to the centre was eventful, too. The ANC big man was sent back three times as something kept beeping in his pockets. It must have been the remote control for the Bosasa-sponsored gate at his home.
