Samantha Enslin-Payne should not be comparing an impenetrab­ly guarded state monopoly of an essential service with private-sector players competing for market share in a less-essential service, “Cellphone companies penalised for following ‘user pays’ script” (May 5).

She should also mention what return on investment shareholde­rs expect, as indicated by the history of share price movement and dividend payment policy of the two successful “duopolists”.
