Porsche to cough up over pollution

German sports-carmaker and Volkswagen subsidiary Porsche will pay a à535m (R8.6bn) fine over diesel vehicles that emitted more harmful pollutants than allowed, prosecutors said on Tuesday.

“The Stuttgart prosecutor’s office has levied a à535m fine against Porsche for negligence in quality control,” the investigators said, adding that the carmaker abstained from a legal challenge against the decision
