● Livestock Wealth has created MyFarmbook, an app for investors who want to buy cows on the go and keep track of their investment.

Once they have created their profile and the sale has been finalised, investors can check on how their cows are doing through the app.

The information shared with the investors on MyFarmbook includes a list of the cows they own.

The app also has a profile of each cow including their unique identification numbers, their breed, branding, year of birth, colour and the farm where they are located.

Other information includes the date of calving and when the next dividend will be issued.

Because dividends are linked to the weight of the cow, the app also provides investors with an up-to-date graph of their cow’s weight record.

The app has a handy contingency plan that enables investors to select beneficiaries for their dividends in the event of their death.

The company has invested in technology for farmers, too, partnering last year with telecoms giants MTN and Huawei on MTN Connected Livestock, a tracking device that enables farmers to monitor livestock activity.

In addition to tracking activity, the device comes with an app that allows farmers to monitor and manage the cows’ health, respond to them if they are in distress and reduce stock losses.

By the time a cow has been slaughtered, investors will have had access to their full digital history through MyFarmbook and MTN Connected Livestock.
