Minimum benefits for rehabilitation
● Schemes must cover the diagnoses and treatments set out in prescribed minimum benefits (PMBs). The costs must be covered in full unless the scheme has stipulated you must use a certain healthcare provider and you use another.
The PMBs cover brain injuries, cancer, strokes, fractures, respiratory illnesses, multiple sclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. Treatment may extend to rehabilitation that includes physiotherapy and/or speech and occupational therapy.
Med ClaimAssist in the Constantia Insurance Group has recovered R12m of unpaid PMB benefits for members so far this year.
