● Nexans has appointed Arafat Yousef as its MD for the Middle East and Africa, responsibl­e for growing Nexans Cabling Solutions’ business and market share.

He has more than 22 years’ experience in the regional IT and structured cabling industry and has held senior roles with organisati­ons including Corning, 3M, Leviton and CNS.

● Publicis Africa has appointed Odette van der Haar MD. She has extensive industry experience and was most recently CEO at JWT Johannesbu­rg. Before then, Van der Haar was the CEO of the Associatio­n for Communicat­ion and Advertisin­g. She also spearheade­d the rebirth and growth of the Apex awards.

● Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has appointed David Kapelus co-leader of the litigation and insurance practice in the firm’s Johannesbu­rg office, and Brent Botha has been appointed disputes practice group leader. Kapelus joined the firm in 1990 and specialise­s in litigation and dispute resolution, including insurance disputes, general liability, rail and transportr­elated disputes, fires, personal injury litigation, and medical law and malpractic­e.

Botha joined Norton Rose Fulbright in 2005 as a candidate attorney and was retained as an associate in the commercial litigation team in 2007. After three years, he was promoted to director.
