PATRICK BONGOY
Patrick Bongoy is a visual artist who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and is now based in Cape Town. Using rubber as a medium, his work explores ideas around migration, displacement and the search for a promised land. His recent solo exhibition, Matter, at Gallery Momo in Joburg, examined the past and present of his home country, reflecting on the exploitation of labourers in the DRC who harvest rubber as a natural resource. We spoke to him to find out what is on his cultural radar.
