The point of travel, at least if you’re doing it right, is to not be bored. Boredom is for our real lives and travel is the cure. Still, it can be hard, sometimes, to find something new in a place that we “know” so well just because we might have seen a lot of Hollywood movies. So it is with some happiness that we noticed Barbie’'s Dreamhouse — on the sun-drenched California­n coast — listed on Airbnb this week. You can tell it’s Barbie’s house because a) it’s a totally awesome pad and b) there are lots of pink décor “elements”. The listing was a one-time only offer for four people to have the whole house from October 27-29 for a mere $60 (R880) a night which, given its utterly unbeatable location, close to Los Angeles, is the bargain of a lifetime. I know because in 2016 I paid double that for a tiny back-room cottage in a slightly sketchy part of Echo Park at the edge of downtown LA.
