DO: Give your nails a treat by applying nail treatments at home such as growth and strengthening applications.

DO: Use this time to focus on exfoliating and applying face or hair masks more often as you now have more time to treat your skin and hair.

DO: Use this time to practise eyebrow and makeup applications.

DON’T: Bite your nails, pull off your Gelish, gel or acrylic as that can damage your natural nail bed.

DON’T: If you are a regular waxer, don’t shave as hair growth will become hard and stubborn.

DO: Look after your hands. With the excess washing and sanitising during lockdown, your hands will become dry and dehydrated. Use a nourishing hand cream and a cuticle oil to revive your hands. If you don’t have any cuticle oil at home a goodquality olive oil massaged into your cuticles will do the trick.

DO: Be very cautious when attempting to wax yourself at home. Be careful not to burn yourself with very hot wax. Waxing in the “wrong direction” can cause ingrown hairs and not holding the skin tight can rip the skin off.

DON’T: Pick off your Gelish! If you really have to take your Gelish off, use a soft nail file to gently “break the seal”, soak a small piece of cotton wool in acetone and wrap in foil. Soak for 15-30 minutes and then gently buff off the remaining Gelish. However, be very gentle not to damage your natural nail and nail bed.

DON’T: Over-pluck your eyebrows!! If brows are due for a wax or thread, use tweezers to remove just the stray hairs. Don’t try to reshape them! It will take months for them to grow back and regain their natural shape.
