HOTEL HISTORY
Built in 1930, the
Nacional de Cuba
Hotel in Havana opened as a hotel for
Americans — no Cubans allowed. Its casino was the setting for “Lucky“Luciano’s conference in the 1940s — between US and Italian mob bosses — and notable guests over the years included Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando. It’s hosted a cinema festival since 1979, and more recent guests have included Steven Spielberg and Leonardo DiCaprio.
