Police and protesters clashed on Durban’s beachfront yesterday during a demonstration against gender-based violence. Lifeguards were called to the scene after Julien Glenister dived into the ocean in an attempt to avoid arrest. A number of demonstrators were arrested because, according to metro police, they had not made an application for the gathering.
