Back to the drawing board, say Vukela’s lawyers
Lawyers representing suspended public works director-general Sam Vukela say they believe their client should be allowed to return to work. They say the disciplinary process initiated by minister Patricia de Lille was rendered moot when she was removed from the process by President Cyril Ramaphosa, who replaced her with Jackson Mthembu, minister in the presidency. Vukela’s lawyers argue that this means Mthembu will have to start the process afresh, and their client should be allowed to return to his office until Mthembu initiates fresh proceedings against him.
