Two equally thrilling but highly diverse sports cars will go under the hammer at Park Village Auctions’ national webcast auction on Wednesday.
A Ferrari California and a BMW i8 are set to be the headliners among an extensive collection of assorted repossessed vehicles ranging from luxury SUVs, executive passenger sedans and superbikes to commercial cars and everything in between.
The classic two-door Ferrari California is powered by a 4.3l V8 that propels it to 100km/h in just four seconds. This drop-top from 2012 boasts low mileage (46,601km), an authentic Italian leather-clad interior and luxury that’s almost never-ending.
For the forward-thinking, a 2017 BMW i8 with 52,016km on the clock is up for grabs. The German plug-in hybrid was among the first to combine a petrol engine with an electric one, allowing for a total power output of 266kW.
The iconic BMW boasts truly unique exterior styling and a lavish cabin for those who want to go green without sacrificing opulence.
Thanks to PVA’s proprietary webcast technology, bidders are welcomed from far and wide to participate online.
For safety during lockdown level 1, the auction will be conducted as usual, with the exception that there are no bidders on the floor. Instead, it is streamed live. Virtual bids are captured in real time and displayed on dashboards, allowing all participants to compete against each other in real time.
Clive Lazarus, who will conduct the auction, says he expects fierce bidding and looks
forward to the energy that the coming auction promises.
“South Africans love statement, quality cars, so when they hear certain models have reached our floors, bidders make a plan to come up with the money, whatever the economy, as they know that they will get excellent value for money,” says Lazarus.
The auction will commence at 11am. As
ever, Park Village Auctions encourages viewing before the auction.
A viewing will be held the day before on Tuesday at PVA’s repossession centre, 221 Main Road, Martindale, Gauteng.
