Cheers as brewery goes on sale
No small beer as entire contents of facility come up for grabs
● Park Village Auctions (PVA) will bring to market the entire contents of a brewery by way of a simulcast auction on Tuesday.
That’s the word from PVA’s Werner Burger, who says the coming sale presents a favourable way to acquire affordable capital expenditure equipment following the devastating effects of lockdown.
“It’s no secret that brewers are struggling after forced shutdowns for several months. Thankfully, the market is still as thirsty as ever. The aim for [alcohol] producers is to expand operations to meet the demand without overextending — and this auction makes that possible,” said Burger.
A vertical hand-fired steam boiler, a Bevtec condensate return-tank chemicaldosing unit, a galvanised finish and in-line grit collector are among the first lots to be sold.
Under the banner of fermenters and tanks, assorted stainless 20,000l and 40,000l fermenters, stainless 8,000l and 20,000l vessels, a stainless 6,000l tank with dry solids, and a stainless 7,000l tank designed to process milled sorghum will be made available.
Lots to follow include a 48-inch Vibroscreen, Spadoni diatomaceous earth filters, an Alpha Laval centrifugal clarifier, packag
ing head vessels, an outlet conveyor to shrink wrapper, and CIP hot-water vessels.
Bag-in-box equipment comprises various bladder-filling machines, a bag-in-box packaging line with box sealers, a packaging-line conveyor system, a packaging-line shrink wrapper, and a sachet machine.
Remaining specialised equipment includes an Airveyor for bottle transport, a Monoblock washing-filling-capping machine, a carbonator, a chiller and storage vessel for the carbonator, a 5l PET bottle rinserand-filler, a 3l box-sealer conveyor and shrink wrapper, an Algen power generator, a
standby electricity generator, a water purification plant, an Inkjet label printer, inline Filmatic label applicator, cooling towers, a three-phase low-pressure pump, a single-phase low-pressure pump, a highlevel plastic storage tank, water-treatment softener, laboratory equipment, and an Aisle Master articulated 1.5t high-reach electric forklift.
Assorted pallet racking, spare parts, spare conveyor chains, motors and pump equipment make up the last lots of the day.
The assets are located at 54 5th Street, Marlboro, Sandton. The first viewing was
on Friday and another takes place from 9am4pm tomorrow.
Burger said that viewing is essential and reminded the public that strict hygiene protocols — such as no mask, no entry — will be enforced.
The auction will take place on site and online simultaneously, commencing at 11am on Tuesday.
