Pitso Mosimane & Gordon Igesund

Pitso Mosimane, now the most sought after coach in Africa and coach of Egyptian giants Al Ahly, was sacked by Safa in 2012 after failing to qualify for the 2012 Afcon. His successor Gordon Igesund guided the team in the 2013 Afcon that SA hosted. He couldn’t take Bafana to the 2014 WC and was fired.

Shakes Mashaba & Stuart Baxter

Shakes Mashaba is the most familiar of all former Bafana coaches as he made three returns. His last stint (2014-2016) ended badly when he was sacked for not taking the team to the 2017 Afcon. Stuart Baxter, despite failing to qualify Bafana for the 2006 WC, returned (2017-19) and again couldn’t guide Bafana to the 2018 WC.
