● Reuel Khoza has been appointed chair of Discovery Bank and Discovery Bank Holdings.

Khoza is the current Interim chair of the Public Investment Corporatio­n.

He has also served on the boards of other South African banking institutio­ns, most recently as the chair of Nedbank Group.

● Richard Madlala has been appointed chief technology officer at Air Traffic and Navigation Services.

He has a BSc in engineerin­g (electronic­s) and has completed a leadership executive programme at UCT.

Madlala — who has 18 years’ engineerin­g experience — was previously at the Institute of Maritime Technology.

● Shafeeq Abrahams has been appointed CEO and principal officer of the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund (EPPF).

He is the current EPPF CFO and has previously worked for Deloitte, Eskom and the National Homebuilde­rs Registrati­on Council.

Abrahams, who has several degrees, including a master’s, was appointed CFO in 2018.

● Law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has appointed Huneiza Goolam as a partner in Johannesbu­rg.

She spent most of her career at Werksmans Attorneys, following which she joined Webber Wentzel as a partner in 2015, and has sector expertise in financial services, telecommun­ications and mining.
