Go farming, or just chill on the river

● A diverse farming opportunity in a malaria-free area; prime office space with sweeping views across Sandton; a spacious Cape Dutch home with income-producing cottages; and well-situated residences in Paarl and Johannesburg — these are just a few of the appealing properties on BidX1’s online auction on April 29.

The farming opportunity, with an invited opening bid price of R15m, is a property of 1,655.35ha near Alma in Limpopo, made up of seven farms under one title deed.

Says MC du Toit, CEO of BidX1 SA: “Located in a malaria-free area with game farms and private game reserves in the surrounding area, the farms include a livestock farming operation, irrigated cropping operation, multiple residences and multiple sheds, including a cattle shed.

“This prime agricultural property includes natural springs suitable for human consumption, as well as the Sand River and Venterspruit for agricultural purposes, along with three dams and boreholes.”

Du Toit says the total amount of water available for irrigation exceeds 2-million cubic metres, “sufficient for the 358.4ha under pivot irrigation”.

In the North West, a property with Magalies River frontage in Skeerpoort, Remhoogte, features a grand, six-bedroom Cape Dutch home and includes six incomeproducing cottages. It has an invited opening bid price of R4m.

Only an hour’s drive from Johannesburg, with six restaurants/pubs in the immediate vicinity and four golf courses within easy reach, the main dwelling is a spacious 600m², excluding the verandah.

The total amenities on the property comprise 1,300m² under roof, including 15 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, 10 covered carports, 70m² under pergola and 560m² of covered verandahs.

Three staff quarters are included plus a 100m² secure shed, an overflow cottage, a potable water borehole and an irrigation water pump on the Magalies River.

With spectacular views in Paarl, in the heart of the Cape winelands, a stylish sevenbedroom, seven-bathroom fully furnished four-star guesthouse is being sold as a family home — with the option to run it as a fully operational hospitality establishment.

With an invited opening bid price of R5m, the property has easy access to the N1 highway and is close to some of the best schools in the Cape.

Constructed in the Swiss style and nestled in a forest-like setting in the shadows of Paarl mountain, the property is surrounded by famous wine estates, restaurants and historical sites.

It includes a swimming pool, excellent security, and entertainment and braai patios.

In the sought-after, upmarket northern Johannesburg suburb of Lone Hill in Sandton, a four-bedroom family home in a boomed street with a manned guardhouse goes on auction with an invited opening bid price of R2.6m.

The home includes a separate scullery; a wraparound covered patio with built-in braai and gas braai; an upstairs bedroom that can be used as an office; an automated double garage; and a cottage that is attached to the house but has its own open-plan lounge/kitchen leading to a private patio.

There are also staff quarters and a garden shed.

Three individual offices are available to purchase in the Sandton View office park on Hilltop Street in Johannesburg. As the name implies, the properties — easily accessible from Bram Fischer Drive — boast exceptional views across Sandton.

Each with an invited opening bid price of R300,000, one of the offices is 84m² and the other two are 87m² in size. They are in an attractive facebrick building with 24-hour security and a perimeter electric fence.

In Edenvale, near Johannesburg, a double-storey commercial building of about 1,880m² — well positioned on Van Riebeeck Road, just 15 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport and minutes from a major shopping centre and motor mecca — is available with an opening bid price of R7m.

The building comprises a lower level of 665m² consisting of four retail shops and a 452m² showroom that is currently owneroccupied, while the upper level of 763m² — also owner-occupied — houses a workshop and ramp from the lower level.
