Covid shrinks the red carpet

-

Some parts of tonight’s show will be at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, as usual, but most of the action will be at Union Station, Los Angeles’s main railway terminal. However, only 170 people will be allowed in, so attendance will mainly be limited to Covid-tested attendees and their plus-ones, who will be rotated in and out of the ceremony.

Producers said there will be a “teeny tiny” red carpet at Union Station, and presenters will include Renée Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix, Brad Pitt, Halle Berry, Regina King, Reese Witherspoon, Angela Bassett, Don Cheadle, Bryan Cranston and Harrison Ford.

There will be “Oscar hubs” around the world for nominees, presenters and performers to join via satellite feeds.
