Timeline to a tragedy
June 4 2020:
● Tshegofatso Pule, 28, is reported missing after visiting her boyfriend on the West Rand.
June 8 2020:
● Pule’s body is discovered hanging from a tree in Durban Deep, Roodepoort. She had been stabbed.
June 17 2020:
● Muzikayise Malephane, 31, is arrested for Pule’s murder.
February 19 2021:
● Malephane is convicted in the high court in Johannesburg of killing Pule and sentenced to 20 years after reaching a plea deal with the state. Charges also included murder, obstruction of justice and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
February 18 2021:
● Pule’s boyfriend Ntuthuko Shoba, 31, a businessman and JSE analyst, is arrested in connection with Pule’s murder. He faces charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and defeating the ends of justice. According to Malephane, he was the mastermind behind the murder.
April 22 2021:
● Shoba’s second bail application hearing starts in Roodepoort magistrate’s court and is set to continue on April 26.
