Nearly half a million over-60s sign up for jab

By Friday 473,933 people — out of 5.5-million who are over 60 and thus eligible to get the jab — had registered for the second phase of the vaccine rollout, according to Business for SA’s health working group chair Stavros Nicolai. Most registrations were from Gauteng, with 162,561, followed by the Western Cape, with 138,160. Just 4,387 people from the Northern Cape had registered by Friday. Vaccinations will begin on May 17.
