Gift of fire

According to Greek mythology, Prometheus stole fire from Olympus to give to mortals to benefit from. Unfortunately for Prometheus, the gods weren’t impressed and as punishment they chained him to a rock, where an eagle ate his liver. His liver grew back every day and the eagle returned to eat it again and again. Prometheus, being immortal, could not die and therefore suffered endlessly.
