Multinatio­nal confection­ery company Mondelez Internatio­nal has appointed Yokesh Maharaj president of the Sub-Saharan Africa business unit.

He was previously chief growth officer at Tiger Brands, managing director at Distell and also held several top executive positions at South African Breweries.

Agency RAPT Creative has appointed Khangelani Dziba the head of its new public relations and influencer partnershi­ps division.

He has previously worked at FleishmanH­illard, DNA Brand Architects and Group Africa Marketing and with various blue-chip clients, including Standard Bank, Nestlé, Vodacom and USAID.

Marriott Internatio­nal has appointed Sandeep Walia as COO for the Middle East and Jerome Briet as chief developmen­t officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Walia replaces Guido De Wilde, who is retiring, while Briet succeeds Carlton Ervin. Walia studied hospitalit­y at the Indian Institute of Hotel Management and the Oberoi

School of Hotel Management. He has an executive MBA from Northweste­rn University’s Kellogg School of Management. Briet has a bachelor’s degree in internatio­nal management at INSEEC University and an MBA in internatio­nal hospitalit­y and real estate management from the ESSEC Business School in Paris.
