He was previously chief growth officer at Tiger Brands, managing director at Distell and also held several top executive positions at South African Breweries.

He has previously worked at FleishmanHillard, DNA Brand Architects and Group Africa Marketing and with various blue-chip clients, including Standard Bank, Nestlé, Vodacom and USAID.
Marriott International has appointed Sandeep Walia as COO for the Middle East and Jerome Briet as chief development officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Walia replaces Guido De Wilde, who is retiring, while Briet succeeds Carlton Ervin. Walia studied hospitality at the Indian Institute of Hotel Management and the Oberoi
School of Hotel Management. He has an executive MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Briet has a bachelor’s degree in international management at INSEEC University and an MBA in international hospitality and real estate management from the ESSEC Business School in Paris.
