● Absa has appointed Deon Raju as chief risk officer and Punki Modise as interim financial director of Absa Group and Absa Bank.

Raju is a chartered accountant and a chartered financial analyst and holds a BCom honours.

Modise has a BCom and a master’s degree in financial management.She is also a chartered accountant .

Her previous roles at Absa include being head of transactio­nal banking, chief of staff for retail banking since 2016, and CFO for distributi­on channels.

Before joining Absa Group in 2008, Modise worked at Standard Bank and Fedsure.

● Richards Bay Minerals has appointed Nosipho Shongwe as CFO. She is a chartered accountant and previously worked at De Beers’ Venetia mine in Limpopo, where she headed the finance department.She has worked in Australia and Zambia, where she held various financial and management leadership roles.

● The South African Institute of Valuers has elected Malusi Mthuli as president. He takes over from Tracey Myers. Mthuli is the head of valuations for First National Bank commercial property finance.

Myers said: “I welcome Malusi in his new position and I believe he is going to do a great job.”
