Australian wine sales to China slow to trickle

-

Australian wine exports to China have almost dried up after China imposed tariffs of more than 200% last year in an escalating trade spat.

Shipments in the three months ended March 31 plummeted to A$12m (R133m) from A$325m in the same period a year earlier, said Wine Australia.

China, which used to be the biggest export market for Australian wine, last month formalised the tariffs of more than 200% for five years, after a raft of measures barring Australian imports from coal and copper to barley last year.
