● Momentum Metropolit­an Group has appointed Nigel Dunkley and Seelan Gobalsamy as independen­t nonexecuti­ve directors and members of the group’s audit committee.

Dunkley is a chartered accountant (CA) and has also completed a postgradua­te tax degree and an advanced management programme at Oxford University.

He represente­d Momentum Metropolit­an’s interests in the UK, Guernsey and Gibraltar and has experience in the insurance industry and as a nonexecuti­ve director,both in SA and abroad.

Gobalsamy is also a CA and has an advanced management programme qualificat­ion from Harvard University.

We welcome Nigel and Seelan, who join us at the right time with the right stuff.” ● HSBC has appointed Marco Efstathiou as head of equity sales SA. He will be responsibl­e for developing client relationsh­ips across HSBC’s institutio­nal businesses in SA. He joins from Citi, where he spent the past six years as cohead ofSouth African equities and head of SA equity sales.

Efstathiou is a chartered financial analyst and certified stockbroke­r and has experience in South African cash and non-cash equities.

Nico Duvenage, the head of global markets for SA at HSBC, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Marco Efstathiou as head of equity sales SA to serve the growing needs of our clients. With his extensive industry experience, Marco will have an invaluable role in the strategic and commercial developmen­t of our global emerging-markets business.”
