Don’t hold your breath over NPA promise of major prosecutions

National Prosecuting Authority head Shamila Batohi’s promise of major prosecutions within the next six months to restore the rule of law refers.

I have no doubt that she will land “major cases” in the next six months.

Of course, none of these cases will include the obvious leaders in state capture.

Instead, we will prosecute a few small-time middle men who pocketed a couple of million.

When it happens there will be huge fanfare and media spectacle to point to great “progress” being made under the new dawn.

Some of these cases were laid bare in all their ghastly horror at the Zondo commission during a few weeks of testimony.

How long do you need to do the same? I know the argument will be “prosecutable evidence”, but seriously?

Buyer beware with Transnet

Transnet’s move to reassure private operators over the R600m price tag for slots refers.

Buyer beware! A two-year contract? Investing billions for that length of time?

How absurd is that?

And if Transnet is responsible for the state of the line, the warning signals are already going off all along the track.

Rooftop energy surprise

I wonder how much electricity will come from the roofs of peoples’ houses and business premises in the future, “Renewable energy gets 2,600MW boost” (April 10).

It would be interesting to know how this is developing.

I wonder if it might come as a bit of a surprise?

South Africans are resourceful and will not just sit back in the dark as the ANC destroys Eskom.
