● Marriott International has appointed Richard Collins as area vice-president for Sub-Saharan Africa. He replaces Volker Heiden, who has retired.
Collins has more than 30 years of hospitality experience. He is a graduate of the Shannon College of Hotel Management in Ireland and started his career with Marriott International at the Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club in Edinburgh in 2001. He worked as general manager of Dubai’s first JW Marriott Hotel and The Ritz Carlton, Dubai. In 2018 he was appointed area general manager of Abu Dhabi for Marriott International.
● Consulting engineering and infrastructure advisory firm Zutari has appointed Vishaal Lutchman as MD of transport.
He has an MPhil in leadership, an MBA, a diploma in business management, a BSc civil engineering degree and a diploma in civil engineering, among other qualifications, and joins Zutari from the South African Institution of Civil Engineering, where he was CEO since 2020.
He previously worked as director of the maritime, aviation and rail business at WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff, director of the maritime and freight advisory group at Royal HaskoningDHV and deputy chief engineer at Transnet.
● Law firm Bowmans has appointed mergers and acquisitions lawyer Stimela Mokoena as a partner in its Johannesburg office’s M&A practice.
He has an LLB from the University of Johannesburg and qualifications in advanced company law, international business transactions law and private equity from Wits University and the Gordon Institute of Business Science.
He has 11 years’ experience as an M&A attorney and has represented government bodies, private sector clients in listed and unlisted environments, and worked on cross-border transactions in Africa. He has experience in mining as well as the construction and engineering, transport and renewable energy sectors.
