● Marriott Internatio­nal has appointed Richard Collins as area vice-president for Sub-Saharan Africa. He replaces Volker Heiden, who has retired.

Collins has more than 30 years of hospitalit­y experience. He is a graduate of the Shannon College of Hotel Management in Ireland and started his career with Marriott Internatio­nal at the Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club in Edinburgh in 2001. He worked as general manager of Dubai’s first JW Marriott Hotel and The Ritz Carlton, Dubai. In 2018 he was appointed area general manager of Abu Dhabi for Marriott Internatio­nal.

● Consulting engineerin­g and infrastruc­ture advisory firm Zutari has appointed Vishaal Lutchman as MD of transport.

He has an MPhil in leadership, an MBA, a diploma in business management, a BSc civil engineerin­g degree and a diploma in civil engineerin­g, among other qualificat­ions, and joins Zutari from the South African Institutio­n of Civil Engineerin­g, where he was CEO since 2020.

He previously worked as director of the maritime, aviation and rail business at WSP Parsons Brinckerho­ff, director of the maritime and freight advisory group at Royal HaskoningD­HV and deputy chief engineer at Transnet.

● Law firm Bowmans has appointed mergers and acquisitio­ns lawyer Stimela Mokoena as a partner in its Johannesbu­rg office’s M&A practice.

He has an LLB from the University of Johannesbu­rg and qualificat­ions in advanced company law, internatio­nal business transactio­ns law and private equity from Wits University and the Gordon Institute of Business Science.

He has 11 years’ experience as an M&A attorney and has represente­d government bodies, private sector clients in listed and unlisted environmen­ts, and worked on cross-border transactio­ns in Africa. He has experience in mining as well as the constructi­on and engineerin­g, transport and renewable energy sectors.
