LARONA MOAGI
South African actress and content creator Larona Moagi is best known for portraying Itumeleng Mokoena on 1Magic’s awardwinning ‘The River’, a role for which she received the nomination for Favourite Rising Star at the third DStv Mzansi’s Viewer’s Choice Awards in 2020. Moagi is working on her next big acting role and a variety of brand campaigns. We spoke to her to find out what’s on her cultural radar.
What music are you listening to?
Amapiano and Gqom are the heart of the SA music scene at the moment and if I want to dance I turn up my favourite tracks and have a good time. My fave Gqom track is iGhost by Que DJ ft. Babes Wodumo and my fave Amapiano track is Possible by DBN Gogo, pictured. Such club bangers! I enjoy “good time” music and I don’t have to be at a club. I just need to be in a good mood or having a good time with friends.
What artists or creatives do you follow?
I’m a proud member of the Bey Hive and I couldn’t wait for July 29 when Beyoncé’s new album Act 1: Renaissance dropped. It’s been so long! I’m also very appreciative of poetry. I used to write, something I’ve recently gone back to doing. Even in the absence of releasing any new projects, The Strivers Row made such poetic gems; their older pieces will live on forever.
What’s good on TV?
The Boys!I’ve waited two years for season three and it’s finally here. It’s such a brilliant show. I also recently finished Savage Beauty on Netflix — it’ sa captivating series. I’m so proud of the local streaming content we’re seeing.
Trying any health or wellness trends?
The past year proved to me that a healthy body goes hand in hand with a healthy mind. I’ve started being more conscious of the food I eat and I’m more physically active than I’ve ever been — it’s working wonders for me. I’ve been disciplined enough to work out with my trainer at least twice a week. Hot girl summer 2022 loading!
What’s your favourite beauty product?
Dior! Dior! Dior! Dior fragrances, Dior lip gloss. Dior is my go-to. My all-time favourite Dior fragrance is Miss Dior by Dior. It’s a gorgeous scent.
